War on Diseases Caused by the Environment

Our environment issues caused by ourselves bring to us many fatal diseases. Before I thought infectious diseases were found only in nations with high poverty but after reading the National Geographic articles on War on Diseases I realize that developed nation could be one of the main contributors to it also.
Infectious mosquitoes was common in the eastern hemisphere but had spread into the western hemisphere in 1999. Its homeland was the West Nile district in Uganda. Its started to find refuge in the birds and easily passed onto humans. The first case in which it was detected was in a 73 year old man, Seymore Carruthers living in the nation’s sunbelt where as we know is sunny and farm land abundance. He was in coma with encephalitis and died. Investigators went to look around his environment and easily found evidence on how he was bitten by that mosquito. Nearby there was stagnant water and swamps in the farms, places where infectious mosquitoes breed. This disease of the West Nile has become a concern for health official and it’s said that it’s contaminated more than two thousand and killed about a dozen.
Like the West Nile there are many others that spread by migration around the globe. Dengue and yellow fever are two very serious ones that were seen in Central and South America at first but now is being seen in the Caribbean and southern parts of the United States. In the 1900’s people thought that these diseases were vanishing due to the vaccinations, sanitation, and mosquito control but didn’t. They were wrong. Other situation arose that made all these factors invaluable. Unfortunately, humans ourselves are increasing these health problems. Wars increase migration and migration can lead to insanitation which is a cycle on bringing any type of diseases. Even the things we think benefit us really don’t, for example, technology.  Centralized systems of food and water in developed countries provoke microbial blooms. To end this we all would need to contribute just a bit. (http://science.nationalgeographic.com/science/health-and-human-body/human-diseases/war-on-disease/#page=1)   (Up to page 3).
This article on War on Diseases is very meaningful because helps me understand what should probably be done in developed and especially in developing nations to end so many outbreaks on such deadly diseases. It’s very important for people to educate themselves and understand why things that are happening occur. This article explains many important things that have happened and what has caused them to be the way they are. I had no idea that many things that I believed benefited us can also cause severe issues. I thought that all technology was actually helping us and developing nations. Such as centralized systems for food and water. Their purpose is to make sure that what we are consuming has no microbes or contaminations. Like I mentioned before this has actually made it easier for microbial blooms. This actually is related to everything talked about in my environmental science class. It covers issues with Migration, global warming, sanitation and developed and developing countries. I didn’t mention the fact that medicine has made children resistant and have made mosquitoes more strong to it also. Hopefully this is teaching health official something new also and they will try to come up with new cures. I will love to someday visit such poor countries and see what I can contribute in and many people should do the same.
These cases on infectious diseases are very serious and many things need to be done to alter it. Some actions that should be taken are look in more depth what are all the things causing fatal mosquito diseases. Questions are: What environmental problems make an increase? And what are we doing that cause the environment to do this? Health official should examine these mosquitoes closely and take out valuable information that would probably take them to a solution. In developed countries we should use all the technology we have carefully and help the developing countries make some changes. First change we should help in is sanitation problems. I believe that is one of the major problems in poor nation, sanitation. We do need money in all this so why not try to raise it and see what we can do with it.
